Weekend Docket: 6/8/12

Oh right, it's Gay Pride Parade weekend.  GO OUT. HAVE FUN. PLEASE DON'T DO STUPID THINGS ON MY STREET & CAUSE MAJOR TRAFFIC ISSUES!  (I live right on the parade route...) Thanks!  As much fun as I have annually at the Pride Parade, this year I'll be skipping it to volunteer some good charity time for Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation event :).  Other than that & seeing Prometheus (yes I'm terrified, but am still seeing it) this should be a relatively tame weekend.

But enough about me, what are you all doing this weekend?? I want to hear all about your weekend plans too! Leave em in the comments below :).  And as always... if you want to connect, you can follow me on twitter @nicolemiizuka or find me on Facebook!

At $25 a pop for this boozy fest, doesn't sound like there's anything you could do wrong. Fun, sun, beer & bites, this Saturday in the sun sounds like a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Just to be safe. $25, Malibu Inn, 22969 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu

Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race and Ocean Festival

The world famous Santa Monica Pier and Honolua Surf Co. will kick off the summer of 2012 with the 3rd Annual Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race and Ocean Festival, featuring paddleboard races, an ocean swim, dory competitions, hula dance groups, live music and a surfing, lifeguard and paddleboard history exhibition. Historic exhibits will feature antique surfboards, paddleboards, lifeguard equipment and vintage automobiles tied to local beach culture. Paddleboard racing was a popular Santa Monica sport in the 1940s with two paddleboard clubs headquartered on the pier. On the pier deck, manufacturers will show off the latest in paddleboards and equipment. Hula dancers will perform throughout the day. Live music and an awards ceremony will follow the completion of the races for the top finishers in each of the divisions.
