Weekend Docket: 6/10/11

There's this episode of GREY'S ANATOMY where Miranda is standing on a street corner, fretting over what she could have possibly forgotten, but knowing that there was some sort of destruction quickly approaching on the horizon... she doesn't have to fret long before she's almost run over by bikers participating in the annual Dead Baby Bike race day.

That's how I feel about this weekend. I'd completely forgotten that it's the LA Pride Festival which over-takes my neighborhood annually with lots of glitter & fun, but also creates a huge strain on parking and traffic. That said, the low hum of what I'm assuming will be a lot of Gaga will add a lovely sense of occasion to our 2nd Cloak & Dinner (what will consume the majority of today/tomorrow).

Once we've finished guzzling the boyfriend's delicious cocktails & filled our tummies with food, we'll probably cat-nap so we can wake up nice & early before the parade starts to drive to downtown & check out THREAD at the Cooper building.  Follow that by some JJ love & Super 8 and it's looking like it'll be a great time.  Just a heads up to those of you who look forward to this weekly... I'm going to Tokyo next weekend so there won't be a docket, but I'll be sure to throw details about any events I find up on the Cake & Heels Events Calendar.

Cloak & Dinner: Any Colour You Like

Having finally attended my first underground supper club w/ delicious food by Isaiah at The Pheast, (and subsequently working on another dinner which yes I will blog about at some point very soon) I saw both the hard work & the indescribable joy that came out of the experience, and I knew it was time to finally get my own dinner party underway...

Introduce an improv aficionado (in both cooking & comedy) and an adorable (I can say that, he's my boyfriend) mixologist into the mix... with the addition of my deliciously baffling concoctions and we have ourselves the perfect recipe.  Wanting to encapsulate both our avant-garde style & our playful creativity, the Cloak & Dinner supper club was born. Here's a quick rundown of our first dinner, but you can find out more information (including how to sign up for future events) on our website - http://cloakanddinner.blogspot.com/
