Most commonly known as the "Stinky Fruit" the Durian is very distinctive for its large size, its hedgehog-esque, thorn-covered husk and its unique odor. If you ever see one rolling your way, buyers beware! People are generally split on their supreme love and intense hatred for this fruit. It's popular in many Southeast Asian countries and is often referred to as the "king of fruits," but many hotels and restaurants ban the use of Durian within their walls.
Durian's are a very good source of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, but because of its rich nature, be sure to eat it only in moderation. Once you've gotten over the scent, which sometimes is described as smelly gym socks, here are a few recipes to get you started!
