Weekend Docket: 10/21/11

I know I'm still playing catch up from last weekend's massive LA Food & Wine festival, so hopefully this weekend will be a little easier with our first private Cloak & Dinner event on Saturday and some work into future Cloak & Dinner R&D events... Here are a few other fun events happening in & around the city. Personally I think everyone is just in a momentary lull so they can justify going all out for Halloween.

Dionicess IX at Steingarten LA
all night
Beer cocktails & vegetarian food?  Yep, finally paired together at last.  With bartender Matt Biancaniello mixing up beer cocktails and chef Randy Clemens (author of The Sriracha Cookbook) pulling together food, this sounds like a delicious way to spend a Friday afternoon.  Cost is $65/person. Steingarten LA, 10543 W Pico Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064

Saturday, 10/22
K&L Wine Merchants Champagne Tent Event
4pm - 7pm
Add some sparkle to your fall calendar with K&L Hollywood’s Annual Champagne Tent. There will be over 50 different bubblies and their largest number of small producers ever will be flying in from France to present their wines and talk to guests, including folks from Ariston, Franck Bonville, Loriot, Goutorbe, Baron Fuente, Fleury, Leclerc Briant and Champagne Gonet. This is a rare opportunity to engage with the people that grow the grapes and make the wine and to learn more about their approach to Champagne. K&L will also be pouring prestigious grande marquee Champagnes from Louis Roederer, Deutz, Moët & Chandon, Ruinart, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Perrier-Jouët, Bollinger and Salon. A perfect way to get a head-start on your holiday shopping. Tickets are $75-$85 K&L Wine 1400 Vine Street Hollywood, CA 90027

Los Angeles Magazine’s Food Event 2011

The day features great chefs, culinary experts, sommeliers, plus lots of food, wine, and other treats -- all for one price. Watch celebrity chefs in the demonstration kitchen and participate in panels with the experts in the Conversation Lounge. The icing on the cake that sets this culinary event above others is the incredible rural setting, the Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, home to Semler and Saddlerock wines. The ranch boasts acres and acres of natural beauty, vineyards, rolling hills, animals like llamas and zebras, and space to spread out and relax for a true escape from the city, but with just a short drive. $95-$100.
