Call of Duty XP with Kanye West
10am start time
Following in the footsteps of Blizzard Entertainment's Blizzcon, Activision will be putting on a massive two-day event this September in Los Angeles, CA called Call of Duty XP. XP is shaping up to be nothing short of amazing, complete with a reveal of Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer during the opening ceremony, an all-out paintball battle in a life-size recreation of the CoD map Scrapyard, a Call of Duty Armory displaying the entire Call of Duty arsenal, and... a $1 Million Call of Duty Tournament! As if gamers needed another reason to attend Call of Duty XP’s two-day tournament and expo, Kanye West has been added to the event lineup. One half of “The Thrown” will close the show with an 8 p.m. performance. The Stages at Playa Vista http://www.callofduty.com/xp/experiences

Saturday, 9/3
FYF Fest
Doors open at Noon
If Labor Day weekend’s as hot as ever, this event (a music festival so mad, you have to cuss to name it) will flash you back to Coachella. Thirty-six bands will rock, from punk avatars the Descendants to Long Beach’s Cold War Kids to L.A.’s own No Age, whose iron feedback and rainy day vocals made them a darling of the Smell habitu├ęs. It all goes down at 1st and Main—conveniently located across from LAPD headquarters. $40. 1st and Main Sts., downtown http://fyffest.com/

Julian Grape Stomp
11am - 7pm
Get out of town this weekend and head for the apple and grape orchards of Julian, CA. Every September the Julian Chamber of Commerce celebrates the harvest of the grapes with a real, olde-world style grape stomp and festa at the Menghini Winery. This grape stomp out-does all others by providing two barrels for stomping–one for adults and one for children. Tons of grapes are blessed then poured into the barrels. The atmosphere is created with Italian music by Roman Holiday, dancing, Bocci Ball competitions, stomping, wine tasting, a Jumbo Jump for the kids and a variety of food and crafts for sale will keep you busy. Situated in rolling hills covered with vineyards and apple orchards, the Menghini Winery offers an ideal setting for the Festa. $10 adults 21 and over (includes a commemorative wine glass), $5 ages 20 to 6, 5 and under free Menghini Winery 1150 Julian Orchards Drive Julian, CA 92036 http://www.julianca.com/media/grape_stomp.htm

White Trash Wine Tasting @ Colorado Wine Co.
6:30-8:30pm
Read all about it at FinerThingsLA!
White Trash Wine Tasting is Colorado Wine Co.’s most popular event and it’s basically just what it sounds like. A bunch of trashy food (though somehow morphed into culinary delights) paired with the water of life, wine. The event this year will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 6:30-8:30pm. The tasting does book up quickly every year, so it would be best if you had made your reservations a few days ago, but since the Delorean is in the shop, just make sure to make them NOW, ok? ~ FinerThingsLA
$20 / person Colorado Wine Co. 2114 Colorado Blvd. Eagle Rock. http://www.cowineco.com
