Weekend Docket: 6/3/11

I know, I know these are coming out later & later in the day... but there are only so many hours! This weekend should be a fun one, with a little Alie & Georgia cocktail-age tonight, shooting a foodie pilot with Lovely Lady Cakes and The Duo Dishes on Saturday and doing a little work on Cloak & Dinner before we unveil the dets.

Yo Hipsters, Comic Book Nerds & Alcoholics Anonymous Members (you know who you are)… if you fall into one of these categories, then make sure to clear your Friday night to check out the opening reception of “Here is my Art” A Yo Gabba Gabba Gallery Show at Meltdown Comics on Sunset. Curated by Julia Vickerman, the art director & co-creator of Yo Gabba Gabba! This show pulls together work from the likes of Christian Jacobs, Leslie Hall, Mark Mothersbaugh, Parker Jacobs, Brandon Bird, Jesse Ledoux, Charlyne Yi, Carlos Ramos, Deanna Rooney, Joel Fox, Kali Fontecchio, Myke Chilian, Dylan Sprouse, Joel Trussell, Erin Pearce, Kevin Sukho Lee, Julia Vickerman & David Wain. First Fridays @ Natural History Museum

First Fridays, the provocative series in which live music, discussion and curatorial tours converge in an after-hours event, concludes its 8th season this Friday. This final evening will center on Dr. Luis Chiappe’s talk “The Dinosaur in Your Backyard.” Dr. Chiappe is head of NHM’s Dinosaur Institute and curator of the upcoming Dinosaur Hall, opening its doors July 16. Dr. Chiappe’s lecture will explore themes central to this new exhibition. With performances by Dirty Beaches at 8pm and GAYINGS at 9pm. KCRW DJs Anthony special guest Dan Wilcox will spin throughout the evening. General admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children. ColLAboration Pop-Up Beer Garden #2

Outdoor Cinema Foodfest

11th Annual LA River Ride

L.A.'s premiere bike event. You don't want to miss it. If you've done it before you know how awesome it is and how from year to year it just gets "awesome-er!" We have a new pit stop in Hollenbeck park, better food and YES, FINALLY the portion of the bike path between Fletcher and N. Figueroa/Riverside Dr. is open.
