Weekend Docket: 3/18/11

Busy busy busy... I need a weekend to catch up on my weekend.  I don't even have time for all the fun events listed below!  How sad.  Double Date w J&J tonight, Brunch w the Sandman tomorrow, a little Beer Pong Tourney planning meeting in the afternoon (yes it's still happening) followed by a HipCooks Cocktail Party with the boy and a Happy Birthday to Tyler!

Then Sunday.  LA Marathon.  At least being locked in my house will give me a chance to bake up a little Cupcake of the Week creation before I finally knock another thing off my Caroline On Crack list with the girls.  Then... decisions decisions, Shitty Jobs or 20-Nothing amazingness?  Guess I'll leave that up to Sunday night whims!

All Weekend
Grilled Cheese & Beer Pairing at Vintage Enoteca
friday - sunday
Vintage does it yet again, this time bringing a pairings menu that features craft beers and grilled cheese!  The four-course menu includes delicious things like Cheddar, Bacon & Caramelized Onion with a Belgium Brown Ale and Gorgonzola with Truffle Honey on Black Rye paired with St. Peter's Cream Stout.  Sounds decadent to me!  This will set you back $30 a person... call to make reservations!  Vintage Enoteca, 7554 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood

Let pastry chef Kristin Feuer and beer expert Skipp Shelly (of the Surly Goat) guide you through the simple, timeless pleasure of beer + pretzels! What makes a pretzel "pretzeled" anyway? He'll guide us through the nuances of three beers that traditionally pair well with pretzels, and will answer all your maltiest, hoppiest questions. Class is $75 Bakelab, 705 Vesta St., Inglewood

LA Marathon!
affecting traffic all day
As any native Los Angelino will tell you, LA Marathon Day is the one day you either throw on your running shoes and just do it, or settle onto your couch with a huge tub of popcorn and a whole season of TV on DVD so you don't have to deal with the nearly impossible to deal with traffic covering our lovely city.  In case you want to watch the fun happen, check out the route here. OR use that as your guide for streets to avoid at all cost!

The Hook-Up Conversations
8pm & 10pm
After being holed up all day due to the Marathon above, you might want to go out and stretch your legs.  If that's the case then one of my favorite bloggers, Jessie Rosen of 20-Nothings is hosting a little show at Bar Lubitsch.  THE HOOK-UP CONVERSATIONS is a party-meets-performance - a collection of monologues and scenes about the sometimes hysterical, sometimes heartbreaking issues surrounding dating, hooking-up and breaking up as 20-30-somethings.  The show features NY and LA-based talent. Tickets are $6 Bar Lubitsch 7702 Santa Monica Boulevard
