Lucky for us, that was about the time that the chips & salsa arrived. Salty, freshly fried chips with a sweet & spicy salsa worked in perfect harmony with the strong tequila infused into their margaritas.
Then we decided to order some food off their happy hour menu. For $5, we tried their Dos Tacos al Pastor. Two spit-roasted “crackling” pork tacos, tomatillo-avocado sauce, cilantro, minced onion, grilled pineapples and topped with applewood smoked bacon in housemade corn tortillas. Now you know I'm a lover of bacon, so this absolutely hit the spot!
But the real gem were the Nacho Madre's Nachos for $12. Three tiers of nachos, fully loaded with melted cheese, black beans, crema, pico de gallo, pickled jalapenos and guacamole with barbacoa braised beef. It came in a beautiful stack which they cut up table side. Sadly I was a little too slow with the camera (probably from those damn Margarita's) so I was only able to get an "after" picture. The braised beef was succulent and juicy, and melded perfectly with the mish-mash of Mexican flavors.
I was already way too full from my tacos & chips & salsa to fully enjoy these, which means I'm ready for a 2nd trip!
